The Toronto Blue Jays have added left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone to their active roster and sent righty Joel Payamps to their taxi squad ahead of the club's rubber match Sunday against the New York Yankees.
To make room on the Blue Jays' 40-man roster, injured closer Kirby Yates, who underwent Tommy John surgery late last month and will miss the entire season, was shifted to the 60-day injured list.
Milone, 34, put up a 1-1 record with a 2.08 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP in three spring training games with the Blue Jays.
The 6-0, 215-pound hurler struggled last season, compiling a 6.69 ERA in nine starts split between the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves.
The native of Saugus, Calif., has a career 4.56 ERA and 51-51 record over 10 MLB seasons.
