With only a handful of days left in Maple Leafs training camp, including a couple days that will be spent up in cottage country in Gravenhurst, GM Kyle Dubas trimmed some of the fat out of the lineup on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Josh Ho-Sang signed an AHL-only deal and is headed to the Marlies, where he’ll get a chance to prove he’s an NHL calibre player and come up as an injury fill-in as needed.
Nikita Gusev, the other forward on a PTO, was released outright after a poor showing in camp and preseason. His skating proved too much of an issue for the former KHL all-star to overcome. My guess is he ends up back in Russia.

1. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson, who cleared waivers on Wednesday afternoon. He’ll be the No. 3 goaltender in the organization if there’s an injury to Jack Campbell or Petr Mrazek.
