The Toronto Maple Leafs have waived centre Travis Boyd. If he clears, he will be eligible to be assigned to the taxi squad or the AHL.
Boyd, 27, has appeared in 20 games for the Maple Leafs but has been a healthy scratch in each of the past two games against the Calgary Flames. He has three goals and eight points in those 20 games.
Boyd had been playing while Wayne Simmonds was recovering from a broken wrist. Now with a fully healthy Simmonds back in the lineup, the Maple Leafs can assign Boyd to the taxi squad to save cap space ahead of the April 12 trade deadline.
