The Montreal Canadiens will be without the services of their leading scorer during a pivotal three-game series against Edmonton Oilers.
Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme told reporters Monday, ahead of the team's opening matchup vs. the Oilers, that Tyler Toffoli will sit out the set, which wraps up Friday night, due to a lower-body injury.
Toffoli underwent tests Sunday after getting hurt in overtime during Montreal's 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks two nights prior.
It's believed the 28-year-old, who leads the Canadiens with 18 goals and is tied for the points lead at 27, will be able to return following the Montreal-Edmonton Series.
The Canadiens sit fourth in the hotly contested North Division with 37 points, five points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Oilers at 42.
