Ray is the first free agent to be taken off the market during this off-season.
The Blue Jays acquired Ray from the Arizona Diamondbacks in August at the MLB trade deadline. The 29-year-old finished this season 2-5 with a 6.62 ERA, 68 strikeouts and a 1.90 WHIP.
The lefty pitched in Game 1 of the Blue Jays’ AL Wild Card series in Tampa, allowing one run in three innings and striking out five hitters.
In his career, Ray has a 4.26 ERA, 4.12 FIP and was named an all-star in 2017.
The Blue Jays have an ability to flex some financial muscle during this uncertain off-season, with primary needs from a position standpoint including a centre-fielder, a third baseman and starters.
