On Friday night, the Oilers superstar stunned fans — and even himself — with one of the prettiest goals in recent memory.
With the clock winding down late in third period and his team trailing 5-4, McDavid undressed not one, not two, not three, but four New York Rangers before tucking the puck past a hapless Alexandar Georgiev. The Oilers would go on to defeat the Rangers in overtime, improving their record to a Western Conference best 9-1.
Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse was also impressed. “He’ll downplay it,” he told reporters after the game. “ But that was … probably the nicest goal I've ever seen.”
Oh, and McDavid also added two assists, bringing his point total on the season to 22. That puts him on pace for about 185 points.
