The Canadiens announced Monday afternoon that they have agreed to terms on a four-year, US$17-million contract with free-agent forward Tyler Toffoli.
The deal has an annual salary-cap hit of $4.25 million. With the signing, the Canadiens no longer have any salary-cap space, according to CapFriendly.com.
The 28-year-old Toffoli, a 6-foot, 197-pound right-winger, posted 24-20-44 totals in 68 games last season split between the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks.
The Kings selected Toffoli in the second round (47th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft. In 525 career NHL regular-season games, the Scarborough, Ont., native has 145-155-300 totals.
Toffoli and Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin will both hold video conferences with the media on Tuesday afternoon.
