Comcast's Response To Tom Holland's New Spider-Man Deal Is Perfect - Heroic Hollywood

Comcast, who have been well-known for their prank descriptions for Marvel and Spider-Man movies, are seemingly celebrating that Sony Pictures worked out a deal so that Tom Holland can keep appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Previously, Comcast’s Xfinity service has featured troll-ish descriptions aimed at Sony, with their assessment of last month’s now-defunct Sony-Marvel split being seen in the data for Avengers: Endgame. There, they described that “Spider-Man’s boot from the MCU is worse than any villain”, which is a bit amusing in light of Comcast’s attempted interception of the Disney-Fox deal — there are clearly Marvel and Tom Holland Spider-Man fans within the company.

And now, those fans at Comcast are at it again with a more supportive message. In a new description for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, they note that “At least he’s not far from Marvel anymore.” Check it out below:

That’s right, Xfinity. He’s back. from marvelstudios

The new deal that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures came up with was a quick measure to ensure that Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie, which will hit theaters on July 16, 2021, will be made with the previous crew entirely attached. Director Jon Watts was said to be in discussions with Marvel Studios to take on a new Marvel film IP in the event that Sony Pictures was not able to renew a partnership, while Sony wanted him back after he gave the company its biggest-ever movie at the box office. Since the deal was put together with haste, it was only a two-picture commitment with Tom Holland appearing in a standalone movie and in a supporting role elsewhere. The option to renegotiate for more appearances is on the table, and Kevin Feige implied that Sony may use Tom Holland’s iteration of Spider-Man in their own movies outside of his MCU commitment.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: Far From Home:

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is now playing in theaters.
