The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired wide receiver Marquise Goodwin from the San Francisco 49ers.
The Eagles and Niners also swapped sixth-round picks in the deal, with San Francisco getting No. 190 and Philadelphia acquiring No. 210.
Goodwin, 29, has been rumoured to be on the trade block since the off-season began after missing 12 regular-season games due to injury over the last two seasons. He has two years remaining on a three-year, $19.25-million contract he signed in March 2018.
An Olympian who participated in the long jump finals at the 2012 London Olympic Games, Goodwin brings speed to an Eagles receiving corps that desperately lacked it and was injury-plagued last season. Goodwin joins 2020 first-round pick Jalen Reagor, fifth-round pick John Hightower and sixth-rounder Quez Watkins as new speedy pass catchers added to Carson Wentz’s arsenal since Thursday night.
With Miles Sanders and DeSean Jackson already on the roster, team speed has quickly become a strength of Philadelphia’s offence.
A third-round pick (78th overall) of the Buffalo Bills in 2013, Goodwin’s best season came in his first with the 49ers in 2017 when he established career-highs in catches with 56 and receiving yards with 962. In 75 career games, the Lubbock, Texas native has 13 career receiving touchdowns.
