Disgraced comic Louis CK is hoping to deliver his comeback at Toronto’s Yuk Yuk’s comedy club next week.
The funnyman — whose glittering career crumbled after allegations he masturbated in front of a number of women — is demanding tough rules for his seven-show gig.
Leave your phones in your pocket and don’t take notes during the “XXX – Adults Only!” performance at the club on Richmond St. W.
Yuk Yuk’s is calling the gigglefest from Oct. 2-6 “the comedy event of the year!”
According to Yuk Yuks: “Louis CK owns all rights in the content and materials, including any jokes and sketches (the ‘Materials’), delivered during his performance.”
But it’s believed the rules have less to do with the New York comic’s MeToo moment than theft of his intellectual capital.
Louis CK had been considered one of the funniest stand-up comedians in the U.S. and the rest of the world.
But in 2017, the Emmy Award winner confessed he had sexually harassed five women and that his behaviour went back to 2002.
The comic’s career collapse was no laughing matter: Netflix dropped a special, a feature film was not distributed and his hit TV series Louie went into permanent hiatus.
Tickets for the shows are $35, plus a convenience fee.
