Here’s the Post’s guide to Sunday’s six can’t-miss NCAA Tournament games:
(10) Iowa vs. (2) Tennessee
12:10 p.m., CBS
The final day of the first weekend tips off with this Big Ten-SEC battle, and no conference has been hotter than the Big Ten. The conference went 7-1 in the first round, matching the record set by the Big East in 2008 and 2011 for the most teams to reach the Round of 32.
(6) Buffalo vs. (3) Texas Tech
6:10 p.m., TNT
This matchup features two of the best, most under-the-radar coaches in the country, Buffalo’s Nate Oats and Texas Tech’s Chris Beard. Buffalo has lit up the scoreboard this year, ranking fifth in the nation in scoring (84.9), while Texas Tech’s stifling defense holds opponents to 59.3 points per game (fourth-fewest in the nation). Both Oats and Beard have been rewarded with contract extensions, but that likely won’t prevent bigger programs from coming calling in the near future.
(12) Liberty vs. (4) Virginia Tech
7:10 p.m., TBS
It’s a battle of Virginia as these two intrastate schools meet on the other side of the country in San Jose. Liberty is coming off the first NCAA Tournament win in school history, while Virginia Tech is favored to advance thanks to the return of point guard Justin Robinson from a lengthy absence with a foot injury.
(9) Oklahoma vs. (1) Virginia
7:45 p.m., truTV
Virginia got a scare from Gardner-Webb before a strong second half — avoiding the incredible feat of becoming the first No. 1 seed to lose to a 16, and then doing it again the next year. The Cavaliers face a tougher test in Oklahoma, which blitzed Ole Miss in the first round.
(11) Ohio St. vs. (3) Houston
8:40 p.m., TNT
The Buckeyes knocked off a hot Iowa St. team that had just won the Big 12 Tournament, but will face an even tougher test in Houston. The Cougars received 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists from leading-scorer Corey Davis Jr. against Georgia State, and coach Kelvin Sampson is just one win away from the school’s first Sweet 16 since 1984. A victory would also help erase the sour taste left from Michigan’s incredible buzzer-beater last year in the Round of 32 that eliminated Houston.
(12) UC Irvine vs. (12) Oregon
9:40 p.m., TBS
There’s guaranteed to be a double-digit seed in the Sweet 16, though only one of these two could be classified as a Cinderella. Oregon struggled for most of the season before coming on strong and winning the Pac-12 Tournament in an upset, then knocked off No. 5 Wisconsin. UC Irvine, meanwhile, had never won an NCAA Tournament game in school history before beating No. 4 Kansas State.
