Oilers sign forward Tyler Benson to one-year, two-way extension - Sportsnet.ca

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Tyler Benson to a one-year, two-way contract extension with an average annual value of $750,000, the team announced Wednesday.

The 23-year-old, who was a restricted free agent, was left exposed by the Oilers earlier this summer in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft.

Benson, a second-round pick by the Oilers in the 2016 NHL Draft, didn't appear in an NHL game last season, but put up 36 points in 36 games with their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

The six-foot, 190-pound forward made his NHL debut for his hometown club in February 2020, seeing the ice in seven games during the 2019-20 season and notching his first and only point with an assist on Feb. 16 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
