20 points. 11 rebounds. 10 assists. Nine shots.
In the Toronto Raptors' 122-111 win over the Houston Rockets on Friday night, 34-year-old Kyle Lowry did a lot of everything. Well, he didn't attempt a lot of shots.
He didn't need to.
TAKEAWAYS: Lowry's triple-double powers Raptors past Rockets

Lowry missed the mark just three times on the night, shooting 6-for-9 (66.7 percent) from the field, going a near-perfect 4-for-5 from deep while knocking down each of his four of his free throw attempts, to boot. For a perimeter player, it's not easy to have that tidy of a shooting performance in a game where you finish with 20 or more points.
Now, factor in the fact that Lowry also finished the night with a triple-double and you're entering the realm of some pretty impressive historical context. As pointed out by TSN's Josh Lewenberg, Lowry becomes just the 11th known player in NBA history to record a 20-point triple-double while attempting fewer than 10 field goals and just the fourth over the past decade.
The list is as follows:
Player | Date | PTS | REB | AST | FG | FGA | 3P | 3PA | FT | FTA
1 | Kyle Lowry | Feb. 26, 2021 | 20 | 11 | 10 | 6 | 9 | 4 | 5 | 4 | 4 |
2 | Giannis Antetokounmpo | Feb. 3, 2021 | 21 | 14 | 10 | 7 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 7 | 8 |
3 | Russell Westbrook | Feb. 29, 2016 | 20 | 13 | 15 | 6 | 8 | 2 | 3 | 6 | 7 |
4 | Draymond Green | Jan. 31, 2016 | 20 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 9 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
5 | Brandon Jennings | Oct. 30, 2010 | 20 | 10 | 10 | 6 | 8 | 3 | 3 | 5 | 6 |
6 | Brad Miller | Nov. 21, 2003 | 22 | 14 | 10 | 7 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 8 | 9 |
7 | Kevin Johnson | Feb. 12, 1997 | 22 | 10 | 17 | 7 | 9 | 2 | 2 | 6 | 6 |
8 | Artis Gilmore | Feb. 4, 1985 | 25 | 13 | 10 (BLK) | 5 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 15 | 21 |
9 | Jeff Ruland | Nov. 16, 1984 | 22 | 13 | 10 | 5 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 14 | 15 |
10 | Swen Nater | Nov. 3, 1979 | 20 | 19 | 10 | 7 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 6 |
11 | Oscar Robertson | Dec. 15, 1968 | 26 | 14 | 17 | 8 | 9 | - | - | 10 | 11 |
Note: Field goal attempts are available for all games prior to the 1982-83 season, meaning Nater and Robinson might not be the only two to accomplish the feat in that period.
Not only was this Lowry's second triple-double of the season - the first was understandably overshadowed by Fred VanVleet's 54-point performance - this also marked the 16th time that Lowry recorded a triple-double in a Raptors uniform, strengthening his hold on the top spot on the franchise leaderboard.
To put this gap in perspective, Lowry has recorded more triple-doubles (16), than the rest of the players in the Raptors franchise combined (13). Over the course of the franchise's 26-year history, only 10 different players have recorded a triple-double and Lowry is among four to have recorded multiple triple-doubles as a Raptor.
Player | POS | Triple-doubles
1 | Kyle Lowry | G | 16 |
2 | Damon Stoudamire | G | 3 |
3 | José Calderon | G | 2 |
4 | Marcus Camby | C | 2 |
5 | Vince Carter | G | 1 |
6 | Mark Jackson | G | 1 |
7 | Charles Oakley | F | 1 |
8 | Pascal Siakam | F | 1 |
9 | Ben Uzoh | G | 1 |
10 | Alvin Williams | G | 1 |
Be that as it may, Lowry was actually not the first Raptor to record a triple-double this season, as Pascal Siakam racked up the first of his career in a narrow loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 11. As Siakam continues to grow as a passer and a playmaker, it shouldn't be long until he begins to move up the leaderboard.
ONE PLAY: How Siakam has grown as a passer
Lowry, who became the franchise's all-time leader in assists during the 2019-20 season, recently moved to third all-time on the rebounds list and, earlier in the season, became just the third player to score over 10,000 points in a Raptor uniform, joining Chris Bosh and DeMar DeRozan.
While Lowry's streak of six consecutive All-Star appearances came to an end in 2021, he continues to find plenty of other ways to make history and rewrite the record boooks.
