Maple Leafs sign goalie Aaron Dell to one-year, $800K contract - Sportsnet.ca

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed goalie Aaron Dell to a one-year, $800,000 contract, the team announced Tuesday.

The 31-year-old has four seasons with the San Jose Sharks on his resumé — he’s posted a combined .908 save percentage over that span, along with a 2.76 goals-against average and five shutouts. In 2019-20, the Airdrie, Alta., native won 12 of his 30 starts and put up a .907 save percentage.

Dell’s finest season came during his first big-league foray, wherein he put up a .931 save percentage through 20 appearances for San Jose, followed by a .914 in his second season.

Prior to the beginning of his pro career, Dell suited up in the AHL for three different clubs, in the ECHL for two different clubs and in the Central Hockey League following his three years at the University of North Dakota.

He earned three WCHA championships with North Dakota, and was named tournament MVP for the third, before claiming a Central Hockey League championship (and Most Outstanding Goaltender honours) before moving on to his ECHL tenure.
