Queen Elizabeth has had a tricky time finding the fine line between being a mother and the Queen.
With the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew and his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffery Epstein, along with the accusations made by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, Her Majesty has been under the microscope about how she will deal with the allegations. The Duke of York was asked by the Queen and Prince Charles to step down from royal duties after the disastrous BBC interview, he gave in an attempt to clear his name, that only raised more questions.
Many have lamented the Queen for still spending private time with her second son. On Friday, mother and son were spotted riding horses around the Windsor Castle estate.
Others supported the Queen’s choice of still parenting her son.
Earlier this week, Prince Andrew was allowed to write his own resignation letter to let him save face. He announced that he would be stepping aside from royal duties for the “foreseeable future” and that he will “help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required.”
Many of the duke’s patronages have also dropped him including the English National Ballet and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
In addition to losing those patronages, Andrew has had to move his offices out of Buckingham Palace as he “steps down” from duties.
The Times Of London reports the Queen authorised the move so now Andrew will have to find additional premises for his staff as leaving them at Buckingham could be open to “misinterpretation.”
However, as he is a member of the royal family, he will be allowed to keep his private quarters there.
