Ryan Reynolds shows true colours with response to Wrexham fan after promotion - The Mirror

Wrexham owner and Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds delivered a touching message to a fan of the Dragons after the team's promotion to League One.

A 6-0 demolition of rock bottom Forest Green Rovers confirmed Wrexham's promotion to the third tier at the first time of asking, having won the National League last year. Their rise has been bankrolled by Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney. The duo have also developed a close-knit relationship with Wrexham's fans and the town itself. That link was demonstrated on Saturday, even though Reynolds was watching the game from the United States.

After Wrexham's promotion was confirmed, one fan tweeted an emotional message. Neil Evans tagged Reynolds, McElhenney and executive director Humphrey Ker in his tweet, which paid tribute to his father. "Literally back to where we were robbed of! @VancityReynolds @RMcElhenney," Evans wrote, alongside a picture of him and his father wearing Wrexham shirts and club-coloured facepaint.

"The town are forever in your debt but @thehumphreyker you will always be our true hero for picking us! Absolutely gutted my dad can’t be here to witness this after the miles we put in over the years." Having seen the tweet, Reynolds responded with a touching message. He wrote: "Neil, your dad knew many years ago what Rob and I - and the rest of the world - are only recently discovering. Wrexham is indeed magic. We are in HIS debt and many thousands of supporters like him."

A Paul Mullin brace plus goals from Elliot Lee, Jack Marriott, Ryan Barnett and a Ryan Inniss own goal handed Wrexham their crucial win over Forest Green. Their promotion has been secured with two games to spare after Barrow and MK Dons lost their games this weekend. The Dragons still have an outside chance of winning the League Two title should Stockport County slip up above them. Reynolds admitted after the game: "This is the ride of our lives.

"A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney. Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives." McElhenney was also unable to attend due to work committments. But he was able to watch on from afar, though he had trouble summing up his emotions, tweeting: "No words." Wrexham will conclude their season with a trip to Crewe Alexandra next week before hosting Stockport on the final day. They are currently four points behind their title rivals, though County also have a game in hand.
