Team Gushue will settle for the silver at this year’s World Men’s Curling Championship after falling 6-5 to Sweden in the title match.
Gushue fell behind early but made a comeback in the ninth end, tying it up 5-5, but giving Sweden the hammer in the tenth.
The winner came down to the final rock, with now seven-time world champion Niklas Edin and his rink picking up the extra point.
The St. John’s-based rink now has four silver medals from previous world championships, on top of a gold medal won back in 2017.
Earlier today, Italy beat Scotland 7-6 to win the bronze.
There won’t be any time for rest for either party as a number of teams who took part in the World Championship will head straight to Toronto for the Princess Auto Players’ Championship which opens on Tuesday.
Coincidentally, the first draw for Gushue at that tournament will be a rematch with Edin on Tuesday night.
