Edmonton Oilers forward Josh Archibald has been suspended one game by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for a low-bridge hit on Winnipeg Jets defenceman Logan Stanley in Game 3 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series.
The Department of Player Safety described the illegal hit as "clipping."
The play occurred with 8:49 left to play in the third period, when Archibald skated toward Stanley at the blue line and bent down to deliver a hit, causing his upper-body to collide with his opponent's knees. The call on the ice was a minor penalty for tripping.
Edmonton went on to blow a 4-1 lead, allowing Winnipeg to rise up to 3-0 in their first-round series.
