Edmonton has been raffle crazy since the NHL restarted its pandemic-delayed season in the city last week. Monday’s raffle reached $3.2 million, followed by a $5.4 million pot Wednesday.

By the end of Friday’s game — in which the Oilers crashed out of the tournament with a Game Four loss to Chicago — the total had reached $7.4 million. The jackpot currently sits at $15,220,440, with the winner eligible for half.

The winning numbers were to be posted no later than 11:30 p.m. Friday. As of noon Saturday, they have not been.

Many Albertans have spent the last two days complaining on social media about the technical difficulties.

Twitter user Megan Oppel wrote: “We tried buying tickets and it kept timing out and we ended up getting charged 6 times but we only wanted to buy one set of tickets. Fix this now!!!!! I want my money back.”

John Krug wrote: “We kept getting error messages when buying online, and ended up getting charged $340 when we intended to buy $70 worth of tickets. You need to refund this!”

Earlier those eager to get in on the raffle were unable to load the purchasing screen. Some users were denied access because the system did not recognize their computer or other device as being in Alberta.

Brown said he immediately called his credit card company after receiving word of the extra charges.
