The NBA has scheduled a special Board of Governors meeting for Thursday morning, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Following the decision by the Milwaukee Bucks to boycott Game 5 of their best-of-seven series against the Orlando Magic in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wis., the NBA postponed all of Wednesday’s games.
With the shooting of Blake having happened in Wisconsin, Bucks players were adamant in a statement Wednesday that “it is imperative for the Wisconsin State Legislature to reconvene after months of inaction and take up meaningful measures to address issues of police accountability, brutality and criminal justice reform.”
The Bucks’ owners released a statement of their own in support of their players, and Wojnarowski also reported that the team spoke to Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes while inside the team locker room.
Players are reportedly set to have a meeting Wednesday night to discuss next steps.
