Blue Jackets’ Werenski, Murray to play Game 5 vs. Maple Leafs - Sportsnet.ca

The Columbus Blue Jackets will have a full blue line for Game 5 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night.

Head coach John Tortorella announced that both Zach Werenski and Ryan Murray are healthy enough to play in the series-clinching game.

Werenski, who led all defencemen with 20 goals this season, missed most of the third period and overtime in Game 4 with an upper-body injury. The 23-year-old had an MRI on Saturday and but is healthy enough to play.

Murray, 26, was a late scratch before Game 4 for an undisclosed reason and his status for Game 5 was up in the air before Tortorella’s announcement. Scott Harrington skated in Murray’s place in Game 4.

In addition to the defencemen announcements, Tortorella also confirmed that he would be going back to Joonas Korpisalo in net for Game 5. Korpisalo started Games 1, 2 and 3 and posted a shut out in the opener. But he was pulled in Game 3 after the Blue Jackets went down 3-0 and Elvis Merzlikins got the start in Game 4 as a result.

The winner of Sunday’s game will advance to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs. The losing team will be eliminated from playoff contention but will be entered into Monday’s draft lottery with a 12.5 per cent chance of selecting first overall in October’s NHL Draft.
