Ever since multiple people have tested Covid-19 positive after taking part in the Adria Tour organized by Novak Djokovic, the organizers and participating players have faced criticism from multiple ends. The latest person to blast the way things were conducted is American Tennis Legend Andy Roddick.

The American got into a scuffle with a fan online who was seemingly defending the tour. His reasoning was that Serbia has no cases and that’s why any kind of preventive measures are an imposition. However, Roddick strongly disagreed with this.
As per him, social distancing had to be a must. Especially when the tournament had players coming from outside and not only those playing in Serbia. The entire matter showed that Andy Roddick is not happy with what has happened.
What did Andy Roddick say?
Andy Roddick started out by commenting on a picture that showed all the participants having fun. They were very close to each other.
Apparently there’s a pandemic ……..

The matter soon devolved when a fan said that he doesn’t say anything about the US where things are more serious. Andy took offence as he’s been very vocal. Here’s how he replied.
I’ve been extremely vocal about social distancing and masks. You are completely incorrect w your statement

The fan added that Roddick had no idea of knowing if he got it in the US.
I don’t, but that’s kind of the point. This thing doesn’t respect any sort of script. When you’re bringing people from around the globe, and putting them in close, unprotected proximity, the virus will live and transfer

Ok, but the end result seems to disagree w you today. Hopefully it’s just the one case and hadn’t spread to anyone who would be at risk. I guess you and I are just comfortable w different risk levels.

Notably, two tennis players are already confirmed to be Covid-19 positive. These are Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov and Croatian tennis player Borna Coric. This has led to a further fear that more players might be infected with the virus.
Novak Djokovic was already being criticized for the faulty implementation of social distancing regulations. However, he had brushed aside all allegations saying that the pandemic wasn’t as strong in Serbia and the tournament was following all the government regulations. This has contributed in tarnishing the reputation of the tennis events which were looking to hold exhibitions or even start tour level tennis in various countries around the world.
