Callaway: DeGrom Might Not Need MRI Anymore - metsmerizedonline.com

Mickey Callaway told reporters before Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals that Jacob deGrom might not need to get an MRI on Monday anymore.

Callaway said the right-hander would still get examined by team doctors, but that he is feeling good enough that it might be deemed unnecessary to undergo an MRI.

The 30-year-old was seen having a catch in left field at Busch Stadium after it being reported on Friday that his elbow was “barking.”

As a result, the Mets placed him on the inactive list retroactive to April 14, the last start he made against the Atlanta Braves. The team expects him to be activated on Friday, April 26 to start the opener of a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field.

DeGrom was scratched from his start that was supposed to take place on Saturday in place of Chris Flexen. DeGrom spoke about what he thinks the injury had to do with in the video clip below.
