Canucks winger Alex Chiasson tests positive for COVID-19 - Sportsnet.ca

Vancouver Canucks winger Alex Chiasson has tested positive for COVID-19, head coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters on Thursday.

A positive test could result in as long as a 10-day quarantine. Chiasson, 31, has three goals and three assists for six points in 28 games this season.

Boudreau said Chiasson was held out of practice Thursday because of the test result, but has not been placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol.

The news comes a day after Elias Pettersson was added to a list that also included Brock Boeser (placed on the protocol list on Dec. 29), Phil Di Giuseppe (Dec. 29), Justin Dowling (Dec. 30) and Jason Dickinson (Jan. 1).

Boudreau told reporters on Thursday that he hoped to have Boeser and Di Giuseppe back on Friday, presumably coming off the COVID-19 protocol list.

The Canucks, 8-0-1 under new coach Boudreau, are 16-15-3 on the season, good for seventh in the eight-team Pacific Division.
