The Montreal Canadiens have locked up an important piece of their front office by signing John Sedgwick, Vice President of Hockey Operations and Legal Affairs, to a three-year contract extension.
Sedgwick, a specialist in contracts and legal matters, joined the team’s front office in 2013 and was promoted to his current role in 2017. In a statement, the Canadiens say, “His main responsibilities include negotiating contracts with players, strategic planning for the day-to-day management of the salary cap, arbitration cases, as well as managing situations related to the collective agreement between the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association.”
Sedgwick also played a leading role in establishing team affiliates the Laval Rocket of the AHL and Trois-Rivieres Lions of the ECHL.
The Canadiens can book a ticket to the Stanley Cup Final with a win on home ice in Game 6 against the Vegas Golden Knights. Coverage of the game on Thursday begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN Now.
