No one ever accused Dez Bryant of being shy.
The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver let loose on Twitter when news broke of Jason Garrett’s firing on Sunday afternoon.
Ouch.
That’s harsh, but not unexpected from a player who never seemed to come to grips with his release from the Cowboys. Plus, we’re talking about a guy that has had other negative things to say about his former coach, including inferring an issue relating to black players.
Regardless of the Garrett-Bryant relationship or motive behind the take from Bryant, he may be totally correct here. Moving on from Garrett felt like a no-brainer move for the Cowboys when the season concluded. For some reason, it took nearly a full week to complete the decision for Dallas owner Jerry Jones.
The Cowboys missed the postseason with an 8-8 record despite owning a plus-113 point differential on the season. That was good for sixth-best in the NFL, and better than teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks. All four of those franchises won postseason games, and enter Divisional Round weekend with Super Bowl dreams alive.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport, real interest could exist between the Giants and Garrett.

According to Rapoport, the Giants are a “really legitimate potential landing spot” for Garrett if he winds up being fired by the Cowboys. Per Rapoport, the Giants are Garrett’s “preferred destination” if he is fired.
Garrett, 53, has been the Cowboys coach since 2010. In his nine seasons as coach before this year, the Cowboys have won the NFC East three times, but also missed the playoffs all together the other seven seasons and Dallas has yet to win more than one playoff game in any postseason.
